Instagram or it didn’t happen, right?! Don’t leave your friends and followers hanging on your next trip to NYC. Use my handy list to get all the most enviable classic NYC shots to show off on the gram 😉 I’ve rounded up my 15 favorite spots with tips below – so take notes!
The 15 Most Instagrammable Spots in NYC:
1. Empire Stores Rooftop in DUMBO, Brooklyn
53-83 Water St, 11201, map
If you want a flawless shot of the Brooklyn Bridge this is it! You’ll also get a stunning view of the Financial District.
Tip: Come in the morning to avoid crowds. We managed to get clean shots without any people in them, but in fact there were a TON of people around us as we went in the afternoon!
2. Radio City Music Hall
1260 6th Ave, 10020, map
Nothing says New York like the iconic Radio City Music Hall! Those neon lights will make you feel brand new…cause now you’re in NEW YORKKK 😉
Tip: This is a super touristy area so there is going to be A LOT of people & traffic. If you are going for a movement shot proceed with caution & ignore the stares!
3. Central Park
The possibilities are endless when it comes to Central Park! I feel like I still have so much to shoot there, but some of my favorite shots were done by the lake, on some rocks, and by a tunnel.
4. Washington Mews
A true hidden gem! This quaint little street will have feel as though you’ve been teleported to a Mediterranean village – it’s only the lingering New York skyline that gives it away. Although this is a private, gated street, you’ll find that it’s open during the day as NYU hosts a few classes in the buildings.
5. Pietro Nolita
Say hello to a REAL-LIFE Barbie dream house. This cute little French spot tucked away in NoLita is – NO JOKE – floor to ceiling PINK. Not to mention the super cute pink benches and graffiti outside!
Tip: Although the owner has made this place Instagrammable AF he does NOT appreciate people taking pictures with DSLR cameras – don’t ask me why. I managed to sneak a few outside, but don’t even attempt to inside or he will more than likely freak out on you. Otherwise apparently iPhone pics are ok?
6. The NoMo Hotel
9 Crosby St, New York, NY 10013, map
I mean, have you seen a more picturesque archway? Whether you’re staying at the NoMo or not, be sure to grab a shot when you’re hitting up SoHo!
7. The High Line
New York, 10011, map
Take a stroll through this iconic old rail park that stretches all the way from 14th Street to 34th Street! The views of the river & the skyline are gorgeous, and you’ll find tons of cute food trucks along the way. My favorite spot is below, with the sky bridge in the background!
8. Brooklyn Bridge Park
Yet another incredible view of the Brooklyn Bridge! It’s especially magical at sunset, and weather permitting, you can really make a day out of it. As you walk through the park you’ll find several basketball courts, soccer fields, a dog park, cute food trucks, and even a mini beach and pool in the summer!
9. The Corner Deli
106 Kenmare St, 10012, map
The colorful vintage vibes of the Corner Deli were made for Instagram. While you’re there pick up some of their famous tacos and a Mexican Coke – YUM!
10. Chinatown
Doyers St, 10013, map
One of the things I love the most about New York is how in just a few blocks you can feel like you’ve been transported to a whole other country. Whenever I start to miss Asia (which happens a lot!) I go to to Chinatown and feel like I’m back in Hong Kong again. The streets are filled with pops of red & yellow that will make for a bright and bold photo!
Tip: I took these shots on Doyer St, which is full of V instagrammable shops! Just remember to be courteous and ask the shop employees if it’s ok to take a photo first. For this one in particular the owners asked that I didn’t shoot inside but that outside was ok 🙂
11. Staple Street Skybridge
9 Jay St, New York, NY 10013, map
This Skybridge was actually originally built as a pedestrian bridge in 1907. It was used to connect the New York Hospital’s House of Relief to their three-story brick annex building across Staple Street (at the third floor of 67 Hudson Street). It now functions as a bridge to connect two very large and very luxurious apartments. Interested? Rumor has it the bids are starting at 35 million – lucky for you a photo is free 😉
12. Lupes
1110 6th Ave, New York, NY 10013, map
You may recognize this baby blue restaurant from posts by some of your favorite influencers! It’s just too cute not to take a photo, and the food is pretty decent too 😉
13. New York Stock Exchange
You’ll love the picture-esque architecture of this historic building! I was a little daring for this shot and climbed up on the platform to get this angled shot – don’t try this if you’re afraid of heights!
14. La Duree
398 W Broadway, 10012, map
Ask for a seat in the garden at this cute little French bistro located in SoHo!
15. Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
For a quiet escape to nature, head into the oasis that is the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. It’s absolutely beautiful year round, but especially magical during Cherry Blossom Season!
